Hi!  I'm Karla.

Allow me to share a little bit about me and my accounting background & education:

I have a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Penn State University.  I'm a wife and mother (and stepmom) of three sons.  Two are grown up and 'adulting,' while my youngest is getting ready to fly the proverbial coop.

My work history is a bit more storied.  I briefly worked in public accounting right out of college for two different CPA firms, and one thing I loved during that time was helping all of the business owner clients, especially when they came to the firm looking for help with bookkeeping.  However, I wasn't a fan of the long hours in public accounting.  Two tax seasons later, I moved to a corporate job working for a publicly traded company in the manufacturing sector.  I spent just over two decades climbing the corporate ladder.  During those years, bookkeeping was few and far between unless a close friend or family member needed assistance.  Each time I was called for help, that spark for helping business owners through bookkeeping would light up again.

In 2024, I was beyond burned out by a very long commute on top of long hours in the office and felt like I never saw my family anymore unless they were sleeping.  I put my faith and trust in the Man above, that he would show me a path forward, and made one of the scariest decisions of my life.  I left the large corporate gig (and the LONG commute) behind for a job much closer to home.  This change has provided me with several opportunities.  One, exposure to the tax game again only this time in addition to looking at the Federal and State returns, I'm focused on the local earned income tax niche.  And two, the time to allow me to answer the call of entrepreneurship and build a bookkeeping business.  I am now nurturing that reignited spark for bookkeeping that I loved since I graduated college and turning it into a flame burning bright.

So.......here I am, "counting beans and chasing my dreams" of entrepreneurship as my Instagram bio states. I invite you to reach out and get in touch with me on social media (I'm on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn) or right here on my website.  Fill out my form.  Let's see if we are a good fit and what we can do for each other.

I take your finances, your peace of mind, and my job incredibly seriously—but I don't think the world of accounting has to be stiff and stuffy! When we work together, you get the real me: quirky, casual in jeans and a t-shirt and a dog or two in the background. I show up authentically, and I invite you to do exactly the same.
